Bass in the home studio

Guitar, Bass, Keys and a room full of Drums
I play what the song asks for. Guitar is my main instrument, but some days it is a bass line and a pocket to sit in, some days it is congas and a djembe, some days it is keys and synths and an idea that showed up at two in the morning.
Most of it gets recorded right here, in the room at the top of this page. Rock, lo-fi, smooth jazz, whatever the rhythm turns into. I also teach T’ai Chi, Yiquan and meditation — the attention you learn there is the same attention that makes music worth listening to.

Two pages, two sides of what I do. Both open in a new tab — the players live over there.

Fretwork — the Guitar Guide
A practice room in your browser. I built it because I got tired of juggling a tuner, a metronome, a chord book and a scrap of paper with tonight’s routine on it.
- Tuner and metronome — listens through the microphone, taps out any tempo.
- Chords, triads, dyads and double stops — every shape on the neck, laid out by root and type.
- Scales and arpeggios — see the pattern before you play it.
- Practice routines — build one, hit start, and each step drives the metronome at its own tempo.
- Tabs and songs — keep your own, export them, print a routine sheet for the music stand.
