New Lenox hosting concerts this summer

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Unfortunately I did not find out about this series of concerts until today but some great bands left.

Already missed the Gin blossoms in June

but still you can see Blues Traveler and Peter Frampton at this outdoor event which includes a beer garden. The ticket prices are still $45 if you just buy them for the two remaining events or even one event . I also see they have a Wine and Jazz night this Sunday, July 18th sounds great especially if they play some smooth jazz!

Who can help me Mike my Congas

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

So am trying to find the right microphone and placement to get all the sound from my congas and djimbe. It seems that the nice live echo and sustain just doesn’t work with what I’m using. I added a couple new tunes at JOLIETJEFF that you can listen to that use drums. Mix4u2sexin2 and stepin out 2night! listen to the muffled drums and see what I mean. If you have constructive comments please leave them for myself and others who might like to use your techniques.

Taste of Chicago -Fireworks Friday-BUDDY GUY Saturday

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

If you want to see a great fireworks show check out the Taste of Chicago July 3rd for one of the best. I like watching this from the Aquarium a quieter more romantic location since you are almost in the lake there but at the taste site you will also hear the co-ordinated music. Then Saturday MR. BLUES , Buddy GUY will get down. Buddy is considered the best blues guitarist alive by many top musicians including Eric Clapton. He also used to hang out in Joliet in his younger days and still plays the Rialto there. There are also some smaller stages with local bands playing. The quality of entertainment has gone down at the taste with the exception of Guy and the Counting Crows this year and really Back when Jane was mayor and all 3 stages had Main acts like YES and SPYROGYRA and B. B. King playing the same night on the navy pier it was much better. Take the train to Lasalle st. station if you can hike the mile and save yourself some parking $$ and the traffic headaches. The train is cheap on weekends and holidays. Guess Ritchie and Todd haven’t got their greedy TAX everything hands on it yet.
